Manhattan Beach, CA: Glammed, Organic, Modern Home
A home is more than its furniture and finishes. It’s a place of comfort, joy, family, and togetherness – even in times of loss. Following the passing of her husband, our client moved across the country to be closer to her daughter. Her vision for her new home wasn’t about the latest trends and styles; she simply wanted a place of comfort to spend time with her daughter.
For this project, we focused on creating an environment that felt grounded and peaceful. The palette leans into warm neutrals layered with natural wood and stone textures that bring a sense of calm. Sheer curtains, mirrors, and potted plants in nearly every room brighten the space and create an organic, healing atmosphere. Plush furnishings, stacked books, and ceramic vessels infuse the room with a personal, lived-in feel.
But what mattered most was helping her preserve her husband's memory in the home. Even in a new and unfamiliar space, we wanted him to be there as a familiar, tangible comfort. One room holds a framed selection of his records – a nod to his life as a musician. Sentiment items, such as personal photos, art, and books, can be found in the living room and kitchen. These pieces, small but deeply meaningful, anchor the space with memory and love. It feels like home.
